WHEN
Alaska March On (AMO) was formed in 2017 for the just-launched "Women's March" held on January 21st. The Women's March was responding to concern about the potential erosion of women's rights and much more by the incoming administration, and it has continued every January since. AMO marched about 1000 strong through Anchorage’s downtown streets, joining with hundreds of similarly inspired marches across the United States and around the world.
WHY
AMO came together due to the fear of the harm this administration might mean for our reproductive rights, women’s rights, human rights, and so much more. The goal was to act locally to keep up the momentum. It was clear that change was necessary and the way to make that change was in who we elected.

MISSION STATEMENT
Since Alaska March On formed in 2017, it has been active in supporting progressive local, state, and federal candidates primarily through extensive 'get out the vote' postcard campaigns. In 2025, AMO partnered with Stand Up Alaska to form Action Alaska which actively resists anti-progressive policies of the current administration through rallies, marches, and extensive letter writing and call-the-office campaigns.

Alaska March On is registered with the Alaska Public Offices Commission (APOC) as an Independent Expenditure Group (aka Political Action Committee or PAC) and as such can support but not coordinate with candidates.
